Kuku FM attempts to revolutionize the way people listen to traditional radio in a way that it is a non-music audio platform that is equally addictive as a music platform, not to mention, incredibly educational and impactful.

Inclusivity is one of the main goals of Kuku FM: It’s accessible and appealing to all parts of the country. The team at Kuku FM ensures free content for everyone, whether you are in the mood to chill and listen to some of your favourite audiobooks, or you feel like getting enlightened and ready to take over the world.

People lose countless hours to mundane activities such as commuting, chores and staring at their phones. What if we could turn these little blocks of unallocated time into memorable and precious moments of joy, learning, and reflection? With KukuFM, we are re-inventing the traditional radio by allowing listeners to easily discover new, emerging and diverse audio content, and engage with their favorite creators,” say the co-founders of Kuku FM.

Success Story of Kuku FM

Kuku FM has gathered a community of over 2 Million regular paid listeners. The company gained 1 million in the first 18 months of its release, and the next million flooded in, in just 4 months.

The average listening time of the users on the platform after its release was 40 minutes. At the time, other similar platforms had just about 20 minutes. All the founders have been listed in the Forbes 30 under 30 list for Media, Marketing, and Advertising.

Co-founders Vinod Kumar Meena, Vikas Goyal & Lal Chand Bisu

All three co-founders, Lal Chand Bisu, Vinod Meena and Vikas Goyal have a degree in computer science and engineering from IIT Jodhpur. Prior to co-founding Kuku FM, they worked as software engineers at Toppr, an online educational platform.

The inspiration behind Kuku FM

Everyone listens to plain old traditional radio full of music. Nothing new. Kuku FM was built out of the need to transform the way India uses its time. The internet occupies so much time in our lives that we forget to live off-screen.

Kuku FM is designed for the way people utilise their off-screen time. “Our vision is to make the off-screen time better,” says Lal Chand Bisu, CEO of Kuku FM. He says that he was interested in establishing a company that would help make people’s lives merrier and more fruitful.

Listening to podcasts was what inspired him to use his ‘off screen’ time wisely and he wanted to create the same experience for everyone.

The co-founders were hence genuinely excited to solve this problem but weren’t sure if the audience would be encouraging of their ideas. They then conducted a little survey to gather their opinions and were overwhelmed by the positive response.

Seeing such an amazing response really kept them going. “We have seen rapidly growing interest for content in regional languages in Tier II and III cities, semi-urban and rural segments. We aim to continue building a strong and diverse creator network that caters to this segment of the Bharat audience,” says Lal Chand Bisu.

The impact that they have created

Kuku FM continues to impact the lives of thousands of people. A community of more than 2 million visually impaired people was waiting for this kind of dynamic platform.

I’ve been using this app for the last 6 months and my life has never been better, we have a community of more than 1,000 blind people who regularly listen to Kuku FM,” says an active listener.

Uplifting the lives of people with unvaried jobs by helping them listen to their favourite audiobooks on the go has also been one of the major achievements of the company. To be able to help out every distinct individual all around India means the world to the creators.
