Farid Ahsan, one of the co-founders of the popular Indian social media platform, ShareChat, announced the launch of his new venture, General Autonomy which is a robotics startup started by him and another co-founder of ShareChat, Bhanu Pratap Singh.
Ahsan and Singh stepped down from their respective roles as Chief Operating Officer (COO) and Chief Technology Officer (CTO) at ShareChat in January 2023, and now they have ventured into industrial robotics.
The new company seems to be working on the automation of factories using industrial robots to make mass manufacturing agile leading to safer, efficient and standardized production.
“Our mission is to revolutionize the future of factories!” said Farid Ahsan announcing this new venture on a social media post on X. “Factories are complex puzzles, and automation is the key to seeing the full picture, leading to safer, efficient, and standardized production,” he added.
They have also raised seed funding of $3 million from India Quotient, Elevation Capital, and a few angel investors like Srinath Ramakkrushnan of Zetwerk, Ramakant Sharma of Livspace, and Ankush Sachdeva of ShareChat.
Headquartered in Bengaluru, the startup hub of India, General Autonomy will be working globally to build AI-driven machines to automate the toughest parts of labour workflows in factories.
