Study abroad platform Leverage Edu expands to South America with new acquisition

New Delhi-based study abroad and global talent mobility platform Leverage Edu has expanded its international footprint into South America by acquiring Mundus Agency, an international education and student travel consultancy operating across Ireland and Brazil.

The strategic buyout marks the Indian startup’s formal entry into the Latin American market as it seeks to diversify its student sourcing channels beyond its core bases in Asia and Africa.

Leverage Edu founder and chief executive officer Akshay Chaturvedi confirmed the development, highlighting that the move will allow the company to bring its tech-driven suite of international admissions and automated financial services to a rapidly growing cohort of South American students looking to study globally.

The financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed, but the acquisition integrates Mundus Agency’s localized European and South American operations directly into the broader Leverage Edu ecosystem.

Mundus Agency was founded in 2022 and specializes in placing students from South America into English-language courses, university pathways, and higher education programs across the United Kingdom, Canada, Ireland, Malta, and Australia.

The acquired firm will now leverage the parent company’s comprehensive digital platform, which includes Fly Finance for student loans and cross-border remittances and Fly Homes for international student accommodation.

This expansion aligns with the broader strategy of the Indian edtech sector to seek aggressive geographical diversification amid tightening visa regulations and changing immigration environments in traditional student markets.

Launched in 2017, Leverage Edu operates as an artificial intelligence-native talent mobility platform that guides students from university discovery to final enrollment.

The firm last raised 40 million dollars in its Series C funding round at a company valuation of approximately 150 million dollars.

Backed by marquee investors like Blume Ventures, DSG Consumer Partners, and IvyCap Ventures, Leverage Edu competes in the highly competitive international student recruitment landscape alongside prominent rivals such as Leap Scholar, IDP Education, and upGrad.
