Kanchan Keshari, the owner of English Connection, is one such YouTube creator who makes videos on how to speak English fluently.
With over 13 Million subscribers on YouTube and over 1 Million followers on Facebook and Instagram, Keshari is one of the most popular creators in the niche of teaching spoken English on social media.
She has also co-founded a mobile app on the same name of the channel with her husband Rupesh Keshari, which has over 500K downloads on the Google Play Store. He also appears in some of the short videos with their daughter where they share quick tips of conversational English.
Journey from Housewife to Teacher on YouTube
Kanchan Keshari hails from Sirsa, a small village in Uttar Pradesh, where girls are typically married off by the age of 19-21. Her story also somewhat mirrors this tradition, yet it stands as a testament to the adage that with determination any goal is achievable.
As we all know, life undergoes significant changes after marriage, and Kanchan experienced something similar. Fortunately, she found her in-laws to be incredibly supportive. This unwavering support empowered her instilling in her the belief that she could achieve great things and carve out her own identity.
Kanchan’s mother, a teacher herself, instilled in her a passion for education from a young age. Together, they tutored children laying the foundation for her teaching journey.
Even after marriage, she harboured a desire to pursue her ambitions. She pursued a Master’s degree in English literature while balancing familial responsibilities. However, shortly after, she embraced motherhood welcoming a baby girl into her life.
The transition was not without its challenges as Keshari grappled with the dilemma of balancing her maternal duties with her aspirations. Nevertheless, fueled by determination, she remained steadfast in her resolve to make a difference.
When Kanchan’s daughter turned one year old, she decided to pursue teaching English on YouTube, following in her mother’s footsteps as a teacher.
She uploaded her first YouTube video on 28 October 2017, where she talked about the difference between the words ‘my’ and ‘mine’.
Gradually, Kanchan kept making videos on different aspects of learning English and today her channel ‘English Connection‘ has over 1400 videos and millions of people subscribing to it.

In the early days, Kanchan grappled with the challenge of teaching without proper equipment. Holding her phone in one hand and a notebook in the other, she recorded her first video and embarked on her YouTube journey of English Connection.
However, with the unwavering support of her husband, she received a boost. He provided her with a whiteboard, enabling her to enhance her teaching methods and deliver content more effectively.
During this period, she faced resource constraints, but she found tremendous support from her husband who stood by with a light while she recorded her videos. Through this experience, Kanchan came to recognize that her success was not just her own but also intertwined with the challenges faced by many others.
Kanchan often reflects on her journey, highlighting her relentless pursuit of opportunities. She believes in taking action whenever a chance presents itself, rather than waiting for the perfect moment.
Her advice to everyone is clear — whenever an opportunity to progress in life arises, seize it without hesitation. Waiting for the ‘perfect’ time will only hinder your forward momentum.
