Sandeep Maheshwari is a motivational speaker, a role model, and a mentor who conducts life-changing seminars on all things motivational and has a YouTube channel with over 27 million+ subscribers where he invites influential people to have a productive chat. He is also a photographer, along with being an entrepreneur.
Sandeep was born on 28th September 1980 in New Delhi and believe it or not, he grew up incredibly naughty. In school, he was believed to be incredibly shy and reserved and felt empty as he had little to no friends throughout his school life. Although lonely, he could easily pick up a few fights in school and even got beaten up a couple of times.
11th grade was when he decided to change schools and that’s where he met his now wife, who completely changed the trajectory of his life. They both ended up confiding in each other with their whole hearts and today, they’re married with two adorable little kids. Who said high school love doesn’t last?
The Beginning
Facing adverse financial conditions at a young age is a huge load, and not many people can lift it off their shoulders. His family’s economic condition continued to worsen while he was in 12th grade.
Knowing that he had to do something for his family, he came up with a not-so-genius idea of opening up a helpline for students who recently passed 12th grade and had no idea what to do with their lives whatsoever. Written in the advertisement was his landline number which he’d use to have a chat with the students in exchange for some money.
Right after 12th grade, he joined an institute called NIS [National Institute of Sales and Marketing] where most of the soft skills that he has today, were developed. 11 months in, he dropped out of the course, with just 1 month left.
As impatience runs through his blood, he also dropped out of B.Com 2 years in. He also mentions that he didn’t run after a diploma or an undergraduate degree, he ran after knowledge and practical experience.
Journey to Entrepreneurship
He was just 19 years old when he started modelling but after facing severe exploitation and torment from the modelling industry, things didn’t work out for him as a model.
Determined to change the exploitative state of the modelling industry, he started working as a photographer and started his own company called Mash Audio Visuals and built a decent portfolio. He even made his way into the Guinness Book Of World Records by clicking more than 10,000 pictures of 122 models in just 10 hours and 45 minutes.
When he was 26, he started ImagesBazaar, which now is the largest collection of Indian images on the internet. With this, he managed to turn around the lives of struggling models who were helplessly tied to the cruel and materialistic modelling industry.
He got knocked down by business partners, saw his businesses fall apart, and tried all sorts of things from renting scooters to earn money and starting a helpline to marketing household products and whatnot.
Today, he is a successful entrepreneur and conducts life-changing seminars for people who could really use a push in life and has been featured in top magazines like CNBC, NewsX, etc and has been mentioned in Business World as one of India’s Most Promising Entrepreneurs. He’s also been awarded the ‘Young Creative Entrepreneur Award’ by the British Council.
