Kamiya Jani Success Story Curly Tales

If travelling and food take your breath away, you’re in for a delicious treat. Meet Kamiya Jani, the founder and Editor-In-Chief at Curly Tales, a platform designed to make your inner foodie and globetrotter dance with joy. It has everything you need to gratify your urge to travel when you can’t and eat foods you can’t.

Her Career in Journalism

Born in Mumbai in 1988, Kamiya graduated from RD National College with a bachelor of Mass Media degree in Journalism in 2006.

During her studies, she worked as a freelance journalist at The Times of India for a brief period of 7 months. After that, she worked at CNBC TV18 as a correspondent and sub-editor for almost two years and wrote about health and fitness, travel, food, style and grooming, celebrity interviews, etc.

She then went on to work at Bloomberg UTV for 2 years with the main focus on the lifestyle segment. In 2010, she started working at Bennett Coleman and Co. Ltd. for six years before deciding to move on to live a life much closer to her heart.

Why Curly Tales?

Kamiya’s 10-year experience in the media industry has got her ready for any venture that she decides to take on and it translates very well to what she does today, that is Curly Tales.

Having worked as a business news anchor with ET NOW, Bloomberg TV and CNBC TV1, she is industry ready. Her pivotal decision to give up her full-time job paid off as she now gets to live the thrilling life she always wanted.

Her Love for Travelling

Kamiya Jani says that she’s always been somewhat of a globetrotter. She’s always had electrifying love for travelling and being able to do it for a living must be insanely fulfilling.

All stories interest me and few haunt me till I don’t share them on social media. 38 countries. 108 cities and the rest of the world to go,” says she.

The transition from being a full-time anchor to having a full-time career on YouTube and social media wasn’t half as easy, but what made it a tad bit easier was her immense love for travelling.

However, going on adventures around the world quickly gets boring if you’re alone. Travelling with no one but herself wasn’t giving her the rush that she wanted and this is why Curly Tales was born in late 2016.

She says, “I don’t believe in taking adventures alone and that’s why I set up Curly Tales!” When you don’t have enough resources, travelling from home remains your only hope. And now you get to live it through Curly Tales. With the onset of Covid and other life’s intricacies, her platform feels like a warm hug on cold hard days.

Entrepreneurial Success Story

Kamiya started Curly Tales as a personal blog where she would share her experiences. Given her television background, she decided to make videos of places that she’d travel to.

And now she has an incredible team who work more than hard “to inject just the right dose of fun to make your life worthwhile! Be it the new luxe hotels or the lively restaurants, electrifying events or food festivals, you get it all at Curly Tales,” says their website.

Curly Tales also takes the form of a YouTube channel where Kamiya Jani aims at uncovering new possibilities with the help of new places and new cuisines, and has over 1.9 Million subscribers.

Her YouTube series ‘Sunday Brunch’ is heavily famous for the right reasons; she invites celebrities from all over India to have ‘brunch’ with her while they indulge in a plethora of lip-smacking foods and have sincere and wholesome conversations about their lives. To date, we have seen Rohit Saraf and Prajakta Koli from India’s beloved ‘Mismatched’, Kangana Ranaut, Anupam Kher, Ayushmann Khuranna and so many more.

Her goal is to inspire and get more people to fall in love with all things travel and food. “If you’re inspired just a little bit to pack your bags and head out for the weekend or discover the joy of a new dessert in your city – our job is done!”
